Title: On the complexity of computing responsibility for database queries Speaker: Cibele Freire Abstract: The data stored in databases used to be highly curated. It was easier to keep databases consistent and with few errors, in part because most sources of data were well behaved. This model has changed, as collaborative environments facilitate data-sharing, and the general public have become consumers of and contributors to information. Due to this scenario, in which the data in the database is not reliable, the problem of providing explanation for query results is very important and it has been explored from different points of view. In this talk, I will present this problem through the perspective of causality and responsibility, and will show for which classes of queries this is known to be efficiently tractable.
